Best ever at Easter
Thursday, 29th March 2012

When one of the most respected figures in Australian thoroughbred bloodstock says this is the best Easter draft he has ever had ever had, we should probably take a very close look.

Willow Park Stud have enjoyed some great results at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale in past years producing rewarding financial returns for their clients as well as a stream of winners for successful purchasers.

$1.5 million filly SAMANTHA MISS has set the benchmark for Willow Park as their best seller and also best performer, her achievements in winning the Group I VRC Oaks, AJC Flight Stakes and Champagne Stakes making her the most successful million dollar plus yearling ever sold in Australia.

The full brother to Samantha Miss will be a highlight for Willow Park at Easter this year, but ironically he's not the colt that is generating all the headlines for the farm.

Media attention has been largely focused on Lot 436 the full brother to dual Cox Plate winner and international superstar SO YOU THINK, by High Chaparral (IRE) from Triassic.

"It's been well documented that the owners of this colt have been in dispute and as such they needed to find an independent vendor to prepare the horse for sale and we are delighted to have been chosen,” said Willow Park Stud proprietor Glenn Burrows.

"We had a top class draft to take to the sale before he arrived, but he has really put the cherry on top.

"Without doubt this is the best draft of horses I have ever, and maybe will ever, take to a sale.”

The brother to Samantha Miss, by Redoute's Choice from Milliyet, will be offered as Lot 276 and is one of four colts by the champion sire to be offered by Willow Park.

"Given the boom surrounding Fastnet Rock at present, I think Redoute's Choice will end up being one of the best value sires this year and the colt from Milliyet is unquestionably the best foal the mare has produced since Samantha Miss,” Burrows said.

"Redoute's Choice is the proven sire that has stood the test of time. He has 11%SW to runners, is currently a clear second on the general sire's table by earnings and has sired the second highest amount of individual stakes-winners this season.

"Also he is already a proven sire of sires with nine sire sons that have produced stakes-winners including Stratum, Snitzel and Not a Single Doubt.”

Fastnet Rock does feature in the Willow Park draft as the sire of Lot 26, a gorgeous bay filly, the first foal of Group I winner ABSOLUT GLAM, who is a sister-in-blood to recent stakes-winner Nobby Snip.

"Nobby Snip has provided a great pedigree update leading into the sale and this filly is bred on what is looking like a very successful nick between Fastnet Rock and Snippets,” said Burrows.

Fastnet Rock over mares by Snippets and sons of Snippets has produced 10 winners from 13 runners led by Group I winner Wanted and Group III winner Hinchinbrook.

It wouldn't be a Willow Park draft without a selection of youngsters bred by renowned breeder Mrs Catherine Remond from the family of her fine producer Twiglet (dam of Group I winners Fairy King Prawn and Easy Rocking) and this year there are three fillies from Crevette, Dora Maar and Pimpinella, all daughters of the great mare.

"They are all lovely fillies and represent outstanding residual value for buyers looking for that special filly to race and then breed on with,” Burrows said.

"The dams of these fillies are all back in foal to leading sires, offering further potential for this wonderful family to keep progressing.”
