Samantha Miss Wins Gr1 Crown Oaks

Flagship Arrowfield Stud stallion & former champion Australian sire Redoute's Choice (Danehill-Shantha's Choice, by Canny Lad) added a Gr1 triumph when multiple Gr1-winning daughter Samantha Miss (Redoute's Choice-Milliyet, by Zabeel) made it 5 group victories (and; a Gr1 placing) in 2.5 months since returning from a 16-weeks spell with a runaway 3.5-lengths victory before 89,338 fans in yesterday's $1 million Gr1 Crown Oaks (2500m) for 3YO fillies at Flemington in Melbourne. Odds-on favourite Samantha Miss (ridden by Hugh Bowman for trainer Kris Lees) defeated Miss Scarlatti (Stravinsky-Crimson, by Zabeel); Allez Wonder (Redoute's Choice-Luna Tudor, by Military Plume). At her previous start Samantha Miss (a $1.5 million yearling consigned by Willow Park at the 2007 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) notched a fast-finishing 3rd against older rivals in Australia's premier weight-for-age contest: the Gr1 W.S.Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 25. Prior to that she completed a clean-sweep of the Sydney Spring Carnival 4-race Princess Series, with successive victories in the Gr3 Silver Shadow Stakes over 1200m at Warwick Farm on August 23, Gr2 Furious Stakes over 1400m at Randwick on September 9, Gr2 Tea Rose Stakes over 1500m at Rosehill on September 22; Gr1 Arrowfield Stud Flight Stakes over 1600m at Randwick on October 4. Overall Samantha Miss now boasts 7 wins (also including May's Gr1 Champagne Stakes over 1600m at Randwick) &; 3 placings (also including April's Gr1 Inglis AJC Sires' Produce Stakes over 1400m at Randwick & March's Gr3 Sweet Embrace Stakes over 1200m at Randwick) from 11 starts for $1,734,760 earnings.
