Black type for Dubenenko

16 Jul 2023

Talented filly Dubenenko capped a tumultuous two-year-old year with the addition of black type on Saturday, finished third in the Listed Oaklands Plate at Morphettville.

Trained by Chris Bieg at Morphettville, the two-year-old filly was coming off a first up win two weeks prior, her first start since being brought down in the running of the Gr2 VRC Sires Produce in March.

Dubenenko has two wins and two placings to her credit from eight starts, with $177,750 in the bank. She caught the eye in the Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes at her fifth start, storming home for sixth after an unlucky run.

By Newgate Farm's rising star Russian Revolution, Dubenenko is the second living foal from Happy Event (Dream Ahead), a three-time winning half-sister to two Listed winners. Happy Event was dry last year and is due to foal to All Too Hard this season.

Dubenenko was sold to Chris Bieg and Brentknoll Thoroughbreds for $100,000 through our inaugural Magic Millions Adelaide draft in 2022. Her half-sister by Too Darn Hot (GB) was sold to the same connections at Magic Millions this year for $130,000.
