Brutality cracks the million

16 Jul 2023

The Joe Pride trained war horse Brutality hadn't graced the winner's circle in 580 days, since taking out the 2021 Group 2 Villiers Stakes, but Saturday was the day to change that!

Having his 46th start and lumping the topweight of 62kg, Brutality had previously raced on a good track 19 times without winning, but the six-year-old proved there's a first time for everything.

Saturday's race at Randwick was a milestone for Brutality's connections, taking the gelding's earnings over the $1million mark. Along with his Gr2 Villiers win, he was second in the Gr3 Liverpool City Cup and counts numerous fourth placings at Group and Listed level.

By Shamus Award, Brutality is the second foal from Star Salute (General Nediym), a stakes placed winner of three. He was foaled and raised at Willow Park for his breeders Go Bloodstock.

Brutality hails from the second crop of Cox Plate winner Shamus Award and is one of two Willow Park-produced Group 2 winners by the stallion, alongside Doomben Roses winner Etana.
