Gr2 winner for Sweet Gisel
02 Mar 2026
The team at Willow Park have plenty of interest in the Golden Slipper this year, with a leading contender in Easter graduate Stretan Ruler, Fireball representing resident mare Advance Party and Saturday's Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes winner Spicy Miss out of a WP-sold broodmare.
Already Listed placed at her previous start in the Lonhro Plate three weeks ago, Spicy Miss broke her maiden in style to take out Saturday's Sweet Embrace (1200m) at Randwick, booking her spot in the Slipper for Ciaron Maher.
Spicy Miss (Trapeze Artist) is the third of four foals from Sweet Gisel [USA] (Street Cry), pictured, who was sold for $130,000 at the Inglis Chairman's Sale in 2021 to Bert Vieira.
She is the second recent stakes winner, both by Trapeze Artist, bred by the Vieira Group from WP-sourced broodmares, joining dual Gr3 winner Piggyback (ex Wowee).
Hello Hayley [NZ] also continued a hot run of form in New Zealand on Saturday, recording her second consecutive stakes wins in the Listed Dunedin Guineas.
A daughter of Hello Youmzain [FR] raced by her breeders Cambridge Stud, Hello Hayley is out of Hayley Grace [NZ] (Thorn Park), sold for $85,000 at the Magic Millions Broodmare Sale in 2018.
Also worthy of a mention is the brave mare Aeliana [NZ], daughter of WP-sold broodmare Temolie (Star Witness), who ran a brilliant second to superstar mare Autumn Glow (The Autumn Sun) in the Group 1 Verry Elleegant Stakes. More Gr1 glory is in store for this mare!
