King Hit a rising star in WA
02 Apr 2026
A star on the rise in the WA ranks, the Trevor Andrews-trained King Hit continued his picket fence formline with a third consecutive metropolitan win at Wednesday’s Ascot meeting in Perth.
Stepping out over 1600m for the first time this preparation, King Hit settled in third before coming three-wide on the turn and taking the lead 200m out to win by half a length over The Crimson Pirate (Trapeze Artist) - winner of the Listed Lex Piper Stakes (1600m) two starts back.
Improving with each preparation, the four-year-old gelding now boasts six career wins and $201,000 in prizemoney from his 20 starts, four of those wins coming at metropolitan level.
A son of brief Coolmore shuttler Magna Grecia [IRE] (Invincible Spirit), King Hit is out of the unraced mare Sucker Punch (Encosta de Lago), herself a daughter of Gr1 Golden Slipper and AJC Sires’ Produce winner Merlene (Danehill).
He was offered at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in 2023, where he failed to reach his $80,000 reserve. He was later sold to Trevor Andrews through the Nolen Racing draft at the Gold Coast 2YOs in Training Sale for $150,000.
