More broodmare graduate success

As Autumn racing begins to heat up, numerous stars are getting right into their new campaigns and we are seeing more progeny of Willow Park-sold broodmares competing at stakes level.

 

At Rosehill on Saturday it was progressive stayer Piggyback (Trapeze Artist) who was successful second up in the Listed Parramatta Cup (1900m) for Ciaron Maher Racing.

 

A winner of the Group 3 Colin Stephen Quality (2400m) at Rosehill in the Spring, Piggyback has Group 1 goals in her sights, likely targeting the Tancred Stakes and Sydney Cup.

 

Bred by Bert Vieira, Piggyback is the fourth living foal of Group 3 winner Wowee (Choisir), who was sold to Bert Vieira through Willow Park's 2014 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale draft for $210,000.

 

Further representing WP-sold broodmares, Hedged (Capitalist) was also in top form on Saturday at Caulfield, with a strong second to Tropicus (Too Darn Hot) in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate.

 

A two-time stakes winner this prep, Hedged is out of Acing Shamrock (Fastnet Rock) (pictured), who was sold to Yulong for $340,000 at the 2019 MM Broodmare Sale.
