Second win for Spirit of Peace
03 Jul 2025

As the racing season winds down, the winners keep rolling in and the success in Hong Kong continues, with Spirit of Peace gaining his second win on Tuesday night at Sha Tin.
A rising five-year-old son of Darley’s star sire Harry Angel (IRE), Spirit of Peace is coming to the end of his first season of racing, having only had his first start in December at Sha Tin.
He collected his first win over 1200m at Happy Valley at his third start, before stepping out to 1400m for his next few races, over which he won last night under a great ride from fellow Aussie Brenton Avdulla.
Jumping from barrier two in the Class 4 contest, Spirit of Peace took up a handy position three back on the rail, taking advantage of the inside run to chase down the leader and take over 100m out, holding off late challengers to win by a neck.
The first foal from two-time winning imported mare Caronia (USA), Spirit of Peace was raised at Willow Park and sold through the Highway session of the 2022 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
An outstanding type, he made $155,000 to the bid of Billy Healy, SJC Thoroughbreds and Furlong Thoroughbreds. While the original intention was to pinhook the colt through a Ready To Run Sale, things didn't go to plan, forcing his withdrawal.
After winning three trials and finishing second in a fourth under the name Seven Arrows in Queensland, he was sold to Hong Kong and found his way to the stables of Champion trainer John Size.
Six Willow Park graduates have won in Hong Kong this season and with just four meetings remaining for the season, we hope to add one or two more wins to the tally!
