Koolibah goes back-to-back

08 Apr 2026

An exciting staying prospect for the Chris Waller Racing team, lightly raced four-year-old mare Koolibah made it two consecutive metropolitan wins at Rosehill's Easter Monday meeting.

Having just her fourth start, Koolibah took the lead on the home turn and drew away from her rivals to win by 2.8L over the 2000m course.

The talented mare kicked off her career in February with a quiet run over 1350m at Ipswich, before improving two weeks later at that track with a promising fourth.

At her third start on March 18th, she stepped out to 2070m at Doomben and put pay to her rivals with an emphatic 3.8L win, before travelling South to partner with Champion hoop James McDonald on Monday.

Bred by longtime clients Neville Morgan and CSTN Bloodstock, Koolibah is the fourth winner from five to race for Listed Gosford Cup winner Oriental Lady [GER] (Doyen), all of whom are by Darley's underrated sire Kermadec [NZ].

Oriental Lady has been married to Kermadec throughout her stud career, proving a fruitful partnership producing stakes placed city winner of $500,000 Kirkeby, city winner of $450,000 Kapakiri and provincial winner Katerini.

Oriental Lady foaled another Kermadec filly at Willow Park in August, before both were sold via Inglis Digital earlier this year.

Later in the day, Tak Goes Boom (Spirit of Boom x Takanori) brought up his fourth win at the provincial meeting at York for trainer Sharon Miller, making it an Easter Monday double for WP graduates.
