Rosehill win for Cold Brew
29 Jun 2026
He was our first winner of the current racing season, so it was great to see Cold Brew back in the winner's circle at Rosehill at Saturday.
The lightly raced four-year-old was second-up for Richard and Will Freedman, having enjoyed a long spell after his previous win in August.
A quirky horse that often throws his riders a few curveballs, Cold Brew showed promise running second in four of his first five starts as a spring three-year-old, before breaking his bridesmaid status on June 25th last year at Hawkesbury over 1300m.
The penny appeared to have dropped, as the talented gelding strung together three in a row, culminating in a 3.6L metropolitan win over 1400m at Rosehill in August.
He was then sold online via Inglis Digital for $180,000 to Mustr Racing, remaining in the Freedman stable.
A close up fourth at Rosehill at the end of May kicked off his latest campaign, before Saturday's 0.66L win over 1300m.
By evergreen sire Pierro, Cold Brew is the first foal of multiple Gr3 placed winner of four, Connemara (Fastnet Rock). Connemara and Cold Brew were both bred by the late Fergus Doyle.
Foaled and raised at Willow Park in 2021, Cold Brew was later sent to Fernrigg Farm to be prepared for the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, where he sold for $170,000.
