Group 2 for Changing Colours

28 Sep 2026

One of the rising stars of the Spring in Melbourne, Changing Colours stepped it up big time on Sunday with a brilliant win in the Group 2 Stocks Stakes at Caulfield for Lucy Yeomans.

Changing Colours was having her fifth start for the Yeomans stable, having relocated from Chris Waller earlier in the year, stringing together four consecutive wins and stepping up to stakes grade for the first time in spectacular style.

Settling back in the field over the 1600m, Changing Colours was travelling beautifully for Blake Shinn coming into the turn and showed a super turn of foot to surge clear at the 100m, winning by 1.5L over Group 2 winners Sass Appeal (So You Think) and Too Darn Discreet (Too Darn Hot).

Changing Colours is the first stakes winner for young gun Lucy Yeomans, who commented she may now have Group 1 targets in sight, namely the Gr1 Empire Rose Stakes or the Gr1 Toorak Handicap, both run over the 1600m.

The six-year-old mare has been relatively lightly raced with 20 starts under her belt for seven wins and eight placings, banking $636,000 for connections to date.

Changing Colours is the latest stakes winner for Arrowfield Stud's star sire The Autumn Sun and the second stakes winner for her dam Cleanup (Dehere), who also produced dual Group 1 winner Nettoyer (Sebring).

She was foaled and raised at Willow Park in 2020 for breeders Bromfield Park, who retained a racing share in the mare. Bromfield Park also previously owned the 2001 Stocks Stakes winner Lady Marion (Danehill), who produced her own WP-foaled Gr2 winner in Largo Lad (Encosta de Lago).
